Mandatory Behaviours
Date | 17 October 2013 | 18 December 2013 |
House-training | Does not appear to have been inside a house before. | House-trained. Takes herself outside for toileting. |
Doorway etiquette | Too early to say. | Waits for humans to go through first |
Car travel | Travels perfectly in a crate but refuses to go in the car - is terrified and flops onto her belly or tries to run away | Travels perfectly in a crate and in a harness. Happily jumps up into the jeep. |
Mealtime manners | Absolutely no self-control | Sits and waits for food. Makes eye contact and waits for the release word 'OK'. |
Basic focus work (Watch), sit and drop | No training at all. Hand shy so not possible to lure her even into a sit. | Very good focus (food motivated). Can sit and drop. |
Go to your mat/crate/bed | Absolutely no training | Will go to her crate if you tap the mat with your hand |
1-2 camera-friendly tricks | No training. Need to work on confidence first as she is too skittish around people to try any training | Can spin and shake hands. |
Assess friendliness/neutrality | Friendly with small dogs. Not sure how she is with bigger dogs. Very frightened of around humans. | Very friendly with all dogs. A little intimidated by big dogs when first meeting them but settles down. Still a little reserved around humans but happy to be patted and can be won over with food |
Assess other behaviours | Appears destructive and very restless. No off-switch at present - very restless and paces a lot. Jumps over Bunnings panels. No mouthing. Hides from people and tries to run away all the time. Appears completely unsocialised with people - it's like having a terrified, wild animal in the house that won't let you near her. | Well-behaved inside with a very good off-switch. Much more confident with people. Socialised with a large number of people, situation and objects and has not displayed any fearful behaviour. |
Optional Behaviours
Date | 17 October 2013 | 18 December 2013 |
Sit-Stay | No training. | Can sit and stay for a short period of time |
Drop-stay | No training | Haven't trained this |
Recall | No recall. Runs away from people. | Responds well to her name when called. Have not tried offleash. |
Loose leash walking | Terrible. Tries to run away, almost hanged herself. Hides behind everything she passes and drops flat on the ground and refuses to move. | Good. A little excited at the beginning of a walk and changes sides now and then but generally walks on a loose leash and checks in on handler regularly |
Slightly more complex trick | Too early | Can do a 'beg' |
