Training Progress Table

Behaviour Initial Assessment upon Arrival into care
House-training Advised he is not house-trained at all. Has had 2-3 small accidents in the house but actually seems to understand that when toileting, he needs to go outside to do his business. At least one of the accidents is due to an upset tummy.
Doorway etiquette Too soon.
Car travel Travels well in a crate but gets very car sick. Will try to see how he goes with a ginger biscuit
Mealtime manners None. Has some pretty severe resource guarding issues around his food bowl. It's just when the food is in the bowl, he will growl and snap if he's in any way touched. Situation easily defused by tipping the food on the ground or hand feeding him. Will try to feed him without a bowl for the next few days.
Basic focus work (Watch), sit and drop Very focused. Has a sit and has lots of eye contact is very alert.
Go to your mat/crate/bed Too soon to assess although he is very happy to go to a bed and sleep there.
He slept through the night in his crate and only needed to be taken out at 3.45 am, 5am and then 6am
Isn't going into the crate to chill, but is happy to wander into it to retrieve treats that have been tossed into the back of it.
1-2 camera-friendly tricks Too soon although he seems to have early beginnings of a shake and natural spin
Assess friendliness/neutrality Friendly with adults, other dogs and small children
Assess other behaviours He's a little bit barky/mouthy if he wants you to pay attention to him.
Potential resource guarding issues to watch out for - so far need to watch out for his food bowl and potentially tug toys.
Definitely has an offswitch though and can be calm.

Optional:
Behaviour Initial Assessment upon Arrival into care
Sit-Stay Useful and nice to have
Drop-stay Too soon
Recall Too soon but does come when called.
Loose leash walking Too soon
Slightly more complex trick Too soon

Have started his Socialisation Checklist.

Health. A bit too skinny. Was being fed twice a day, probably need to boost to three times a day at least for a short time. Will also need to mix rice, pumpkin and boiled chicken into his kibble because he has an upset stomach (very runny poos).
