Twiggy's doing really well.
1. She's relaxed and quiet when crated in the kitchen even though everyone else is in a different room i.e. her separation issues are getting better already
2. She has been going outside of her own volition and not just hanging around the back door.
3 She is playing more :)

Visit from Former Foster Smudge :)

I might have spoken too soon :) I saw Twiggy and Dodge playing bitey face this morning. She's coming out of her shell and 'playing' more.
On top of that, this morning, Twiggy was very quick to run outside with the other dogs this morning and do all of her toileting as required. When I was doing poo pick up, she and Dodge were out there with me and she actually wandered around a little and moved away from her usual position of haunting the back door. She seems to be becoming a bit more relaxed and she even when outside of her own volition this morning when the rest of the humans were in the study - although she didn't stay out there very long. Today, Twiggy has learned to 'drop'. I wasn't meaning to start training that yet but she is quite receptive and it wasn't hard to teach her. I might teach a 'shake hands' soon as she is still too tentative to follow a food lure for a spin. ( Read more... )
Twiggy's first day
Feb. 16th, 2014 05:57 pmThe first weeks and in particular the first day (and god the night!) of a foster dog arriving in the home are always extremely stressful.
I always think - why on earth was I persuaded by the pitiful pound photograph? I always forget how much work goes into rehabilitating damaged dogs and Twiggy is no exception. ( Read more... )

Feb. 15th, 2014 09:07 pmTwo Kelpies at Young Pound were scheduled to be euthanised on Friday 7 February. They both looked gorgeous so we managed to put in saves and on Tuesday 11 February, Dan and I drove to Young Pound to rescue them. ( Read more... )
