Rookie's been so good today - just chilling out in the study with us all day. He gets let out to toilet but otherwise he's just been snoozing and playing with toys in the study. Very low-maintenance and we were able to take the cone off for most of today because he's licking less and if he starts to point his snout towards his nethers, an 'uh uh' is enough to change his mind.
The swelling seems to have gone down a little but we're taking him to our local vet tomorrow for a heartworm test so hopefully they'll have a quick look at his nethers to confirm our observation that the poor pup is on the mend. I can tell he's still quite sore because he's very tentative when he wants to lift his leg to scratch and he is very awkward when lifting his leg to toilet outside. Poor boy - having giant balls really didn't help him.
He's a dog who who doesn't like taking tablets. The first attempt yesterday ended up with peanut butter all over his cone. I eventually had to stuff it down his throat. Later attempts at medication - we took his cone off and Dan's been crushing his meds into his food.
Here he is looking super cute with Elbie. I will never understand people who think black dogs are scary or ugly!

He'll learn. Learning how to pose for photographs is mandatory in this household - for resident dogs and foster dogs!
He absolutely love the yoghurt dog treats so will have to make sure we get some of those for his hobo bag when he's adopted. He's had 109 hits at his petrescue page, which is about what I expected. Chimes had 1,030 but appearance is everything on the Internet :P
