Poor Rookie's been a trooper. He's been wearing his cone without complaint, still trying to toilet himself even though he can't fit out the dog door with his cone on. He even sits quiet and still so that we can take the cone off and put it back on again. I think he was in quite a bit of pain on Thursday and yesterday we noticed that he looked very red and bruised. So we took him to the vet today.
Weston Woden vet are lovely - we didn't have an appointment, just went in to see if they could look at him to see if there anything wrong but they fit him in right away.
His temperature was all right so there isn't an infection yet but it was very red, swollen and bruised and the vet was a little concerned. So Rookie has to wear his bucket all the time and take some antibiotics. He has been given some pain relief so I hope that makes him more comfortable. This is the house of sick, because Dan's also feeling sick today.

Fingers crossed Rookie's doing better tomorrow. He's such a nice boy and doesn't complain - just looks at you with those big sad eyes.
