Dyson: Day 4 in care, some more training

He's going well.
Optional:
Sometimes he squeaks and barks when we leave the room, but this seems to be getting better.
He's doing well on other fronts though. Definitely has an off-switch. In the evenings, he plays nicely on his own in his dog bed with his toys and doesn't demand attention or cause any problems.

He knows to toilet outside when we let him outside.
After I did some sit/drop/stay/leash and collar desensitisation training with him, he was tired so crated himself.

Updated his Dyson's Socialisation Checklist in light of his recent adventures. He's met heaps of people (all sorts), unfazed by shopping trolleys, bikes and cars. Was a bit scared of the busker in Kippax but that might be because the guy's singing's a bit off.
He's been loose in the study with us and we haven't had to enforce down time since day 1. Here is he sharing a bed with Dodge.

Behaviour | Arrival into care: 1 Oct | Update on 4 Oct |
House-training | So far so good. Seems to have been taught 'quick quick'. | Sleeps through the night in a crate without needing to be toileted |
Doorway etiquette | No manners. Too early. | Learning to sit before going through door |
Car travel | Quiet in the car | Quiet in the car in a crate and in a car harness |
Mealtime manners | No manners. A little bit food aggressive. | Learning to sit/drop and wait for at least 2 seconds. No signs of food aggression since day 1 |
Basic focus work (Watch), sit and drop | Will sit but gets impatient | Sits and drops. Knows to look at me instead of the food when I hold the food out to the side |
Go to your mat/crate/bed | Too soon | Doesn't go on command but happy to go to a crate/bed |
1-2 camera-friendly tricks | Has the beginnings of a shake hands | Has the beginnings of a shake hands. Too soon though. Not very good at spin yet. |
Assess friendliness/neutrality | Dog friendly but a bit boisterous | Gets a bit hyperactive but takes correction well from older dogs. |
Assess other behaviours | Does not like collar or leash at all and gets very cranky. Also a bit mouthy. Dyson's Socialisation Checklist |
Collar/leash desensitisation is going well. Mild separation issues. |
Optional:
