Progress Table
Optional:
His socialisation is going well. Checklist is here.

Behaviour | 16 Feb | 3 March |
House-training | Not house-trained and lifted his leg at the vet's but seems trainable. No accidents in the house so far. | House-training is going well and has learned how to use the dog door. Has marked indoors a few times but seems to be getting better. |
Doorway etiquette | He seems quite submissive. | Quite well-behaved around doorways |
Car travel | OK with wearing a harness and travelling in a car. A very quiet traveller. | Excellent car traveller |
Mealtime manners | Very timid. Haven't fed him around the others yet. | Eats fine around other dogs. Is very food-motivated and a little impatient but is learning to wait. Eats in a leisurely fashion. |
Basic focus work (Watch), sit and drop | Too early to judge | Can sit and drop. Is focused but will avoid eye contact sometimes. |
Go to your mat/crate/bed | Too early but he slept beautifully in a crate last night and seems very happy to be in a crate. | Goes to his mat and his crate when directed but doesn't know the words yet |
1-2 camera-friendly tricks | Too early | Can shake hands |
Assess friendliness/neutrality | Very people-friendly. Seems fine around other dogs - fine at the vet's but we haven't introduced him to our dogs yet until he is tick-free. | Very people friendly. Friendly with almost all dogs so far. Was a little growly at a Schnauzer but was fine when the dog left him alone - he ignored the dog. Has been fine with all other dogs. |
Assess other behaviours | Very, very timid. Stays low, rolls over submissively. Also flinches at sudden movements and sounds. Very, very sensitive to any form of correction | Learning to play with toys and tennis ball. Very sensitive to correction. |
Optional:
Behaviour | 16 Feb | He's good in a crate if we're home, but he really does not like being left in a crate if we're not in the house. He seems to freak out a little and wet the crate :( We'll have to keep working on that.3 March |
Sit-Stay | Too early | Does a very short sit stay. |
Drop-stay | Too early | Does a short drop stay |
Recall | Too early | Learned his name very quickly and generally comes when called |
Loose leash walking | Too early but seems to walk nicely on a leash | OK on lead. Pulls when excited. Still needs work. |
Slightly more complex trick | Too early | Still working on basic behaviours |
His socialisation is going well. Checklist is here.
