Ollie's new mum, despite having the task of doggy wrangling and settling Ollie into a new home sent us wonderful update on Ollie's first day with him - which we appreciate so much!

It seems like he and the kids are getting along beautifully and Ollie is as gentle with children as we thought.

He is doing well with Pip the resident dog - which is a big relief for me. He was naughty and chased the alpacas, but will just need to be taught how to behave around alpacas. He is very trainable so he should learn this quite quickly.

He is starting his formal leash training - Dan and I are shocking and were only able to do very basic stuff with him so I expect he'll make good progress when he has proper training.

He and Pip are both food-oriented dogs so this will require some juggling.

He remembered his commands. He did sit, drop, stay, come, go to bed, shake hands, spin all worked well. He even tried a beg!

He now loves his gift, Mingo the Flamingo which was a gift from the 5 year old daughter. Awwww :) Some photos below, which his new mum said I may share.

"I'm so happy to not be living with couch lazy potatoes anymore!!" :)

Awwww - Ollie looks so comfy with his new family

It's hard not to melt when Ollie gives you an Ollie-Look. He has such soft, gentle brown eyes

Saying goodbye to the Ollie Monster was very difficult but receiving an update like the one above made us feel so much better about what we're doing and happy that Ollie not just gets a chance to live - but that he gets a chance to live a wonderful life. So

1. Thank you to the ranger at Griffith Pound who held Ollie over and didn't have him euthanised.
2. Thank you to Needy Paws Rescue for pulling Ollie out of the pound and temp caring him until he could make it to Wagga
3. Thank you to Dan who helped pick between these two dogs. He picked Ollie because he was fluffy and unusual-looking

3. Thank you to AWDRI who rescued Ollie and placed him with us
4. Most of all thank you to his new family for adopting a rescue dog instead of just going with a cute, fluffy little puppy - although we actually think that Ollie's just as cute as a cute fluffy puppy :)

The Ollie Monster has come a long, long way in such a short, short time :)
