Dodge Day 10: 6 November 2012 - Dodge is now listed on the AWDRI website
Dodge is now listed here on the AWDRI website. He's not ready for adoption but his listing is there in case people are interested in following his progress.
He has been such a good boy since being desexed. Almost no licking so it has not been necessary to put a cone of shame on him. The vet seemed to like him and Dan said that the vet said that Dodge was wonderful :)
Dodge - ready to accompany Dan to take me to work this morning :)

Dodge in the car - he's such a good car traveller.

Funny, wonky-eyed dog :)

In other news, we are making progress with his metal crate training. We are feeding him all his meals in the crate so tonight, he went to the crate of his own accord.
I still can't lure him into a sit as he backs away from me as soon as I offer him food. I'm trying to capture the behaviour instead. Tonight when I was chopping devon for agility, both dogs sat behind me and then Dodge did, too - so I praised him. Eventually he might realise he is getting praised for sitting.
I also lured him around the kitchen with devon to try to make him more food motivated. He is so gentle with his treat-taking and when I sit down, he approached and allows me to pat him but he doesn't want to be cuddled. I hope in time he becomes more snuggley.
He likes to pick up one of my sandals and move it elsewhere in the house. So far we've found it in the study, the entrance hall, the hallway, the kitchen :) He doesn't seem to chew it - just move it around.
Dan was pretty happy with how well-behaved and non-pesky Dodge was today. The vet gave him pain killers post-op but he seems fine so far.
