Nova: Day #6: 31 August 2012 - More progress
Yesterday I took Nova for a walk after work. He walked beautifully on a lead at my left - not too much pulling. He was unfussed by noisy cars with head lights. We stood by a busy road and he watched people playing a night time soccer game at the local oval. Then he accompanied Dan out the front to empty the garbage and showed no signs of straying off or bolting.
Not that I jog, but I did run along the road a short distance to see what Nova would do - he kept pace with me, staying at my side, slowing down or speeding up depending on what I did.
Some photos from today

Nova and his first attempt at the dog brick
Nova at the dog park yesterday - this was later in the day when he had settled As mentioned, his earlier visit wasn't so successful.
Thing is, he gets along so beautifully with our two. This one isn't a training video - it's just the dogs having lots of fun.
Last night, to transition Nova to the 'next stage' of his crate training, we moved his crate out of our bedroom and into the study. As we were preparing for bed, he made one noise - but Dan and I have different interpretations of the sound.
I think he was saying: "*whinge!* Let me out."
Dan thinks he was saying: "Oy, I'm here in the crate, don't forget me." :) In any case, he was as quiet as a mouse last night and perfectly behaved. We'll keep letting him sleep in the study to get him used to the fact that in his new home, he is highly unlikely to be sleeping in the humans' bedroom :)
He came with Dan to pick me up from work and he and Dan lurked around the front of Macquarie Shopping Centre tonight as I ducked inside to buy some groceries. He got some pats from strangers which is nice. One lady gave him quite a few pats and so Nova rested his head against her knee in the hope of more pats :)
Tomorrow will be an exciting day for him. He will be meeting an adoption applicant for some socialisation, getting to know you and just seeing how everyone feels about things in general. We will bring his crate and some toys and see how quickly he settles in that environment - if the weather isn't as foul as today, we'll take him to a nearby oval to run around and play with the applicants. I think Nova will have a blast. Nova's not quite ready for adoption yet, but lots of contact and familiarity will be good for all parties.
